Deciduous shrub 1-3 m high. Leaves are simple. The lamina is elliptic or ovate, tipped. The margin is serrulate. The leaf is sparsely hairy on both sides. The underside is grayish-green. The flowers consisting from 4 petals, ochre or yellow-brown with distinguish veins. The fruit are leathery capsules, pink to red colored. Seeds are black, partially in red arillus. After opening of capsule seeds hanging on the long loop. Shoots: Shoots are green, soon brown, densely covered by dark to black warts. Natural range: Central and Eastern Europe, Western Asia; in our area domestic.

Buds

Buds are opposite, spiky. Cover scales dark on the edge.
