Shrub or small tree with sparse crown. Leaves are trifoliate, alternate. Leaflets are obovate with slightly dentate margin. Leaves are shiny on the front leaf, matt and shortly hairy. The flowers are green-yellow, fragrant, located in panicles. Flowering in August and September. The fruit are round samaras (similar to elms), with seed in the middle wings. There is distinguish nervation on the wing. Shoots: Shoots are thin, reddish-brown, shiny, glabrous. Stink when cut. Natural range: Eastern part of the North America; in our area introduced.

Buds are small, hidden in white fuzz, surrounding leaf scar.
