Ailanthus altissima
Simaroubaceae

Tree 20-25 m tall with straight stem, thin crown and strong branches. The bark is long time, later slightly cracks. Leaves are odd-pinnate, composed of 11 to 27 leaflets with entire margin. On the base of each leaflet, there are 2 to 4 round glands. Leaves may be 50 to 100 cm long. The flowers are arranged in large terminal panicles. The fruit are elongated achenes with wings, seed in the middle. The wing is twisted along the longitudinal axis. Shoots: Shoots are strong, with big, white or brown core. Leaf-scars are big, triangular, with 7 and more leave traces. Natural range: China; in our area introduced.

Buds

Buds are alternate, relatively small, hemispheric, with 2 scales, which are rusty hairy. Terminal bud is often missing, buds are located just above their scars.
