Low shrub with strong, solid branches, which are in the youth covered by short and thick hair, and spikes. Spikes are straight, thin. Leaves are composed with 2 to 4 pairs of leaflets. The leaflets are thick, leathery and wrinkled with visible veins. Flowering in June to October, flowers are red. The fruits are rosehips,apple-shaped. They are wider than longer. They are red, shiny, smooth, with the rest of calyx. They contain many egg-shaped achenes, whitish-colored. Shoots: Shoots are in the youth hairy, strong, with many spikes. They are brown-grey or olive-green. Natural range: Asia; in our area introduced.

Buds

Buds are quite large with red cover scales.
