The big shrub or tree 6-8 m tall. Sometimes there can be thorns. Bark is lengthwise cracked, stripping. Leaves are simple. Lamina is obtuse, ovate or elliptic, serrate, glabrous or sparsely hairy on thicker veins. The front is dark green, lighter on the underside. Petiole is up to 2 cm long. The flowers are pinkish, arranged in corymbs.Flowerinf in May. The fruit are spherical pomes, to 4 cm. They are green-yellow, sometimes with a light red touch. Shoots: Shoots are at the ends whitish hairy, reddish-brown. Older are glabrous and shiny. Lateral shoots sometimes convert in thorns. Natural range: Europe (except the northernmost part, in the East reach Urals); in our area domestic.

Buds are usually hairy, oval, obtuse.
