Bush with underground toffshoot and stripping bark. Leaves are simple. Lamina is lanceolate to longish-ovate, sharply pointed, at the basis cuneate. The leaf margin is serrated. The exserted venation on the underside is pubescent. The petiole usually is 1-4 mm long. The flowers are small, arranged in slender, erected terminal panicles. Flowers are mainly pink. Flowering in June to September. The fruit is glabrous, 1-4 mm, follicles. The color is reddish-brown to dark brown. Usually 5 follicles grow together. Seeds are small, thin, brown-colored. Shoots: Shoots are thin, with ribs,yellow-brown colored. Natural range: Europe (central, eastern and north-east) from the North Asia to the western part of Northern America; in our area considered to be domestic.

Buds

Buds alternate, 3-5 mm long, obtuse ovoid, glabrous. On the basis of buds remain petiole residues. Buds are covered with many cover scales.
