Goat Willow
Salix caprea
Big bush or tree tall up to 12 m. Leaf blade elliptical, shrunken with irregularly serrated or smooth edge. The top is curved to spiral. Face side is dark green, almost hairless, other side uniformly white-gray hairy with yellowish veins. Stipules are denticulate and perennial. The fruit are hairless capsules, seeds in them are small with white hair. Mature capsules usually split to the basis.
Shoots: Shoots hairless or only in youth sparsely hairy.
Natural range: Eurasia; in our area domestic.
Buds
Buds are alternate, covered with one scale. They are ovoid, glabrous.
Leaves
Leaves are simple. The lamina is elliptic, rugose, with irregularly serrated or entire margin. The tip is shortly sharply pointed, spiral-twisted. The face is dark green, almost glabrous, the underside is evenly grey-white pilose, with exserted yellowish venation. The petiole is up to 2 cm long. Stipules are conspicuous, semi-cordate, serrated and persistent.
Fruits
The fruit are hairless capsules, seeds in them are small with white hair. Mature capsules usually split to the basis.
