Tree 20 - 30 m tall with a straight stem with dense crown. Branches started high. Branches set in the sharp angle. End-of-the branches are overhanging. Shoots thin, long,, at the end gently white-grey hairy. Buds alternate, with 1 cover scale. They are ovoid, squeezed, hairy. Leaf blade lancet, widest in the middle. Edge of leaf serrated. Face side is sparsely hairy, the other side of the leaf is whitish with wax film and smoothly hairy. Petiole is 4-7 mm long. Stipules are small, narrow, lancet, soon deciduous. Shoots: Shoots thin, long, at the end gently white-grey hairy. Natural range: Eurasia, north-west Africa; in our area domestic.

Buds alternate, with 1 cover scale. They are ovoid, squeezed, hairy.

Leaves

Leaves are simple. The lamina is oblong-lanceolate, broadest in the middle, generally up to 11 cm long. The margin is gently, but sharply glandularly serrated. The face is sparsely pilose, the underside is whitish with a wax coating with sericeous clinging hairs. The petiole is 4-7 mm long. Stipules are tiny, narrowly lanceolate, poorly evolved, fugacious.

Fruits

The fruit are hairless capsules, seeds in them are small with white hair. Mature capsules usually split to the basis.
