Tree up to 18 m tall with shallow crazing, not stripping. Leaves are odd pinnate, the largest. The bigges leaflets is apical. The fruit are squared fake drupes. Mature outer covering is cracking into 4 pieces. Nut is non-edible, bitter, gray. The covering is thin. Shoots: Shoots are round, brownish with numerous lenticels. Branch core is full, brown. Natural range: Eastern part of the US; in our area introduced.

Buds

Buds are rounded, four-squared, yellow. Terminal bud is long, 8-18 mm long, sharp, slightly squeezed.

Leaves

Leaves are odd-pinnate, the largest is the apical leaflet. Leaves usually consist of 5-9 leaflets. Leaflets are sharply dentate, on the face side deep green. In autumn they stain golden yellow.
