Tree up to 25 m tall with a dark gray bark – in old age rough with cork ribs. Leaves are odd pinnate, up to 50 cm long, consisting of 11 to 17 leaflets. consisting of 15 to 19 leaflets. Leaf shape is lancet to ovoid with serrate edge. The biggest leaflets are in the middle of the leaf. Face side hairy and gently shrunken. The fruit are fake drupes (nuts)egg-shaped, which are in apical part sharp, with glandular hair, sticky. Mature outer covering of nut is not cracking, strong covering with deep gaps. Shoots: Shoots are strong, densely hairy. Branch core color is dark brown and it is striped. Natural range: North America – E and middle, SE Canada; in our area introduced.

Buds

Buds are glandulously hairy, bent. Terminal bud is bigger.

Leaves

The largest leaflets usually are in the middle of the leaf; terminal leaflets usually are smaller. The face side is pilose and slightly rugose. The underside is densely pilose and glandular.
