Shrub (rarely little tree) 2-6 m tall, wide oval shaped, with straight branches. The bark is smooth,brown-gray with the brown lenticels. Leaf blade is obovate, roughly 2x serrated. Leaf petiole is up to 2 cm long. The fruit are nuts in aggregate fruit - 1-5 pieces together. Nuts are less than 2 cm long. Seed cover is tore to one half. Shoots: Shoots smooth, at the end densely hairy, later hairless. Natural range: Europe (except the northern part), the west Asia, North Africa; in our area domestic.

Buds

Buds are ovoid to spherical, obtuse, shiny. Buds scales are on the edge hairy.

Leaves

Leaves are simple. The lamina is rounded-obobvate, roughly twice serrated, with 6-7 pairs of lateral veins. The petiole is up to 2 cm long.

Fruits

The fruit are nuts in aggregate fruit - 1-5 pieces together. Nuts are less than 2 cm long. Seed cover is tore to one half.
