Deciduous tree up to 30 m tall, conical crown. Bark reddish-brown when young, becoming darker, greyish, fissured, exfoliating in long, narrow strips. The shoots - brachyblasts 8 cm long, opposite, fall off in autumn with leaves. Buds opposite, ovoid, 3-4 mm. The leaves are in the form of needles, falling down in autumn, opposite, 10-25 x 2 mm long, soft, blue-green, develops sooner. Natural range: Southeast Asia - China provinces S´čchuan a Chupej.
